“Music, at its essence, is what gives us memories. And the longer a
song has existed in our lives, the more memories we have of it.”

Heavy Rotation

Every DJ (and music lover) has a handful of songs that they need to hear before the night ends. Whether I’m getting ready to go out, leaving a gig or just need a pick me up, I’ll definitely be jamming out to these tunes.

Kaytranada “Lite Spots”
Canadian electronic music producer and DJ, Kaytranada, hits it out of the park with this groovy dance track. Love his production!

Come Down
Anderson .Paak “Come Down”
The drums, funky bass line and that unique, raspy voice. I’m hooked.

Tuxedo “So Good”
Mayer Hawthorne and Jake one form the funk duo, Tuxedo. If I hear this synthy dance track at the club I’m making a bee line straight to the dance floor.

Disclosure “Like You Do”
Electronic music duo, Disclosure, remixed one of my favorite Al Green songs “I’m Still in Love With You” and I am not mad at them for it. This one is deep and mellow but still very danceable.

Galantis, Hook N Sling “Love On Me”
Downloaded this one by accident one day and now I play it more than the original. Thank goodness for happy accidents!

Fresh Perspective

As a DJ, I’m consistently exposed to artists who bring a new and exciting sound to the music scene. Post Modern Juke Box is a prime example. This band of incredibly talented singers and musicians takes modern songs and gives them a big band/jazzy twist, making the original track feel both fresh and timeless at the same time. I usually suggest adding them in to a cocktail hour set. Their cross-generational appeal allows music lovers of all ages to snap their fingers and shake their hips. This is one of my favorites.
