Weekend Wedding Mixes

This past weekend was filled with ambitious brides, grooms, and bridal parties who wanted a spectacle to share with their guests on their special days. This track includes a mix I created for Jenn and Phil’s Bridal Party Grand Entrance and is followed by Oren and Esther’s First Dance mix.  For the Grand Entrance they wanted to have a dance battle between the bridesmaids’ “Crazy in Love” and the groomsmen’s “Let’s Get Married”.  The dance went over really well and paved the way for the Bride and Groom’s entrance to “Now That We’ve Found Love”.  The second three song mix was for Esther and Oren’s choreographed first dance that began with a tango and finished with two fun upbeat songs that complemented their eclectic international tastes.

Funky Soultown Mix

After visiting the Echoplex’s Funky Soul Night here in LA, I decided to dig deep in my Funk and Soul roots to piece together this sample mix on the ones and twos.   Given that these are two of my favorite genres of music, I had a tough time narrowing it down before getting some help from Angie, Stevie, James, Aretha, Sam, Dave, and five Jacksons.  Enjoy!

Latin Club Vibe

Here’s an excerpt I recorded during a dance set at Mark and Liza Savary’s wedding on October 2nd, 2010. Mark had family from South America and wanted to incorporate some Latin music into their dance set that had Miami club tones, mimicking his bachelor party trip to the southern tip of Florida.

Old Skool Dance Party Mix

DJ Swon recipe for any house party: Old skool hip-hop and a dance floor as big as the living room allows. When creating this old skool mix sample, I started with a few artists in the genre that I felt were necessary to hit, and then began to fill in the spaces with mixes and transitions that I thought would bring a similar tone and energy to a house party dance floor. This mix features DJ Kool, House of Pain, Kris Kross, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, and Naughty by Nature.

Top 40 Sample

After being chastised by one of the shoe’s favorite event coordinators for not playing enough Bieber, I knew I’d have to include the budding pop star when putting together this Top 40 mix sample.  Initially created for a client whose taste in music stays a cool 40 deep, I decided to share this mix sample that features such radio wave dominators as Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Taio Cruz, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, and The Black Eyed Peas.
